Remembering Norah Castle-Bray (BAOS Life Member)

Norah was a member for 31 years, her first show being Pink Champagne in 1967. Whilst she enjoyed being on stage her greatest contribution to the Society was her talent as a seamstress and wardrobe mistress. Many costumes were made by Norah over several years, in particular, some of the dresses for Anna in our production of The King and I in 1996. Norah’s last show was The Yeomen of the Guard in 1998. Her sewing room was an Aladdin’s cave where she would produce wedding dresses and bridesmaids to local Basingstoke clients on request. Norah spent her last years in Gloucester where she continued to sew for a local society selling her machine only three years ago. Her grandson Ryan is following in her footsteps.
